CWNE Preparations

Six months ago, I contacted the CWNP and asked them what I must do to become a CWNE, and after 10 minutes I got the requirements, First I needed to make 3 essays showing them the experience I have in wireless.

Then I needed to either have a blog, which I was not quite a fan of it, or to write a white paper, a document 10 pages long with very professional writing, which suits me better as I didn’t have the time to feed a blog. They told me this in January and I was supposed to have enough time to make the 3 essays and the white paper in April.

But I lost track of time.

When I finished the 3 essays and the white paper, I got back in contact with CWNP, and they gave me the requirements again, and then I realized I needed a professional certificate from a third vendor like Cisco, Juniper, and Aruba that must be valid. I lost track of the keyword “valid”. I have two certificates from Cisco CCNA + CCNP and they are no longer valid. Now it is too late to get them renewed. The other certs I had valid from CWNP started to expire, the CWAP expired on May 3rd and the CWSP will expire on June 3rd.

It takes time to prepare for a test, you can’t prepare within a week and expect to have a good score. And now I need to pay for both the CWAP and CWSP exams before applying to the CWNE. On top of that, I need to get the third vendor certificate valid. I am going to get that third vendor certificate exam first, and then I will get the CWAP and CWSP done before applying for the CWNE. And now with more time, I will feed the blog regularly instead of the white paper, as it had few details that I think I should have written permission from the company before getting it public.

Moral of the story
I should have printed out the requirements, when I first got the link to the requirements, I skimmed through it and didn’t retain much. If I had printed the requirements, I could check them again to see what I need to do and see how urgent it was.

Here is the website for the requirements and application in case it is updated in the future: https://www.cwnp.com/certifications/cwne
